Foreign trade enterprises have refused to accept thousands of tons of Uzbek products because they were exported prematurely. This was announced today, July 30, by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a videoconference dedicated to increasing the export of fruit, vegetables, and food products.
During the meeting, it was noted that exports in 21 districts have reached less than 70% compared to the same period last year. These districts include 80,000 hectares of land not used for cotton and grain cultivation, as well as 55,000 hectares of household plots. The President instructed the governors of these districts, together with regional governors, to develop concrete plans for improving the situation.
“Our products are known for being high-quality and sweet, which has helped create the 'Made in Uzbekistan' brand in foreign markets,” the head of state stated.
However, he criticized certain traders for prioritizing higher prices and rushing to export unripe fruits. As a result, foreign retail chains have refused to accept thousands of tons of Uzbek goods that were shipped before reaching the required ripeness.
It was firmly emphasized that this could lead to the loss of market share for Uzbek products abroad.
It should be recalled that during the same meeting, President Mirziyoyev also urged the agricultural sector to stop blaming weather conditions and instead adapt to climate challenges by learning to cultivate crops under heat, cold, and drought.
