By the decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Alisherbek Paygamov has been relieved of his duties as Head of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan due to his transition to another position. The news was reported by the President’s press secretary, Sherzod Asadov.
Sardorbek Umurzakov has been appointed as the new Head of the Department of Foreign Relations. In connection with this appointment, he has been dismissed from his previous post as Chief Inspector of the Presidential Administration. From 2006 to 2018, Umurzakov held various positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and worked at Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions abroad. Since 2018, he has served in key roles within the Presidential Administration, including in the area of foreign policy.
For reference, Alisherbek Paygamov was born in 1981 in the city of Kokand. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.
He began his career in 2003 as a specialist at the Information and Analytical Main Department of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments, and Trade. Later, he served as a leading specialist for CIS, Asian, and African countries in the same department, and from 2005 to 2007 as a senior specialist in the CIS Department.
In 2007, he joined Uzbekistan’s Embassy in Russia as Third Secretary for trade and economic affairs, later serving as First Secretary (2007–2008) and Counselor (2008–2013).
From 2013 onward, Paygamov worked as Acting Head of the Information and Analytical Main Department of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments, and Trade. In the reshuffles carried out in July this year, he was retained as the Head of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Presidential Administration.
