An employee has been detained for bringing a mobile phone into the Central Pretrial Detention Facility in exchange for a 25 million soum bribe. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this.
According to the report, the officer received confirmation from his brother that the agreed amount of 25 million soums had been transferred to his plastic card. He then took a mobile phone from a civilian and covertly delivered it to a person being held in the detention facility. However, the illegal act was uncovered during an оператив operation carried out by officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Main Department of Internal Security.
A criminal case has been initiated against the employee of the Central Pretrial Detention Facility of the Department for the Execution of Sentences under the relevant parts of Article 210 of the Criminal Code (bribe-taking). Investigative actions are currently underway.
It is worth noting that earlier, an operational officer, a department head, and a legal adviser were detained on bribery charges in Surkhandarya and Namangan regions.
