Kindergarten director arrested for bribe in Tashkent

The director of a preschool educational organization in the Almazar district of Tashkent was detained while accepting an $8,500 bribe for renting out football fields from four schools through an auction. This was reported by the State Security Service.  

The director had gained the trust of a citizen interested in business and, through an official acquaintance, arranged the rental of football fields from four secondary schools located in the Shaykhantohur district. He was caught in the act while receiving the bribe.  

A criminal case has been opened against the preschool director under Part 2, Clause "a" of Article 168 (Fraud) and Part 1 of Article 28, 211 (Bribery) of the Criminal Code. Investigative actions are currently underway.  

In a separate case, the head of the preschool and school education department in one of the districts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, in collusion with the department’s chief specialist, demanded 15 million sums from a school teacher. The teacher was promised assistance in securing a position as the head of a preschool organization. Both individuals were detained by the State Security Service and internal affairs officers while receiving the bribe.  

A criminal case has been initiated against these individuals under Article 168 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code, and investigative actions are ongoing.  

Earlier, the State Security Service uncovered the illegal actions of the Deputy Head of the Tashkent City Emergency Situations Department as part of its ongoing anti-corruption efforts.
