In a tragic turn of events, Aida Hasanova, a prominent athlete and chief referee of the Uzbekistan Fencing Federation, unexpectedly passed away at the age of 39.

The federation's press service announced this devastating news on the 23rd of May.

Following the announcement, social media platforms were flooded with reports suggesting that the athlete had suffered complications arising from an incorrect medication administered during a cosmetic procedure.  After her health began to decline, Hasanova was rushed to the 16th city hospital, where she tragically lost her life.

Hayat Shamsutdinov, the press secretary of the General Prosecutor's Office, provided QALAMPIR.UZ with an update on the situation.

According to preliminary investigations, Aida Hasanova, aged 39, underwent cosmetic surgery at a private clinic at 2:00 p.m. on the 23rd of May.  As her condition worsened, she was admitted to the hospital, where medical professionals promptly administered emergency care.  However, despite their efforts, she passed away in the intensive care unit at approximately 6:30 p.m.

To determine the exact cause of her death, a forensic medical examination has been ordered.  The Chilonzor district prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the matter.

Born on the 4th of August 1983, in Tashkent, Aida Hasanova was a highly accomplished fencing master who achieved remarkable success throughout her career.

She secured consecutive national championships from 2001 to 2006 and emerged victorious in an international tournament held in England in 2005.

In 2014, Hasanova made history as the first representative from Uzbekistan and Central Asia to become an international fencing judge for three weapon categories.

Since then, she has been serving as a judge for the International Fencing Federation.  Her exceptional expertise and achievements gained global recognition when she was selected as a fencing referee for the prestigious Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, becoming the first Central Asian expert to hold such a distinguished position.

She was widely regarded as one of the top five fencing judges in the world.

"The Uzbekistan Fencing Federation mourns the loss of Aida, a remarkable figure in our sport.  Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who love fencing," expressed a heartfelt message from the federation.

It is important to note that earlier this year, on the 5th of March, a tragic incident claimed the life of blogger Farhod Mannapov, also known as "Mittivine," at the age of 27.  He sustained head and nose injuries while swimming with friends in a pool.  Seeking treatment, he underwent a nose operation at the "Star Med Center," a private clinic located in Tashkent's Chilonzor district.  The General Prosecutor's Office has initiated a criminal case under "a" of part 4 of Article 116 of the Criminal Code, citing negligence in performing professional duties.  Furthermore, an investigation by the Ministry of Health revealed that the anesthesiologist, resuscitator, plastic surgeon and laboratory technician involved in Mannopov's operation lacked the necessary qualifications and certificates.

These incidents underscore the crucial importance of comprehensive investigations and strict adherence to safety measures in the realm of plastic surgery.  They urge authorities to further scrutinize the practices and qualifications of medical professionals in the field.
