Driver falls asleep at the wheel in Piskent, collides with Isuzu: 2 Dead

A tragic accident occurred on the Tashkent-Bekobod highway in the Piskent district of Tashkent region, where a driver fell asleep at the wheel, resulting in the death of both the driver and a passenger. This was reported by Bobur To‘laganov, spokesperson for the Main Department of Internal Affairs.

According to the report, the incident happened today, March 17, at approximately 6:30 AM on the Tashkent-Bekobod highway. A cargo vehicle veered into the opposite lane, reportedly due to the driver falling asleep, and collided with an Isuzu vehicle.

The collision caused the immediate death of the cargo vehicle’s driver and one passenger due to the injuries sustained.

Emergency services, including medical specialists from the Tashkent Regional Emergency Service, local police, and other responsible organizations, promptly arrived at the scene. Medical assistance was provided to all those involved, and the injured were transported to the hospital. Further investigation and necessary measures are being undertaken regarding the incident.

As a reminder, a similar incident occurred earlier in Jizzakh region's Sharof Rashidov district on the M-39 highway, where a Matiz driver fell asleep and collided with a cargo truck. The Matiz driver succumbed to severe injuries.
