In June 2024, the remains of an ancient grave were accidentally uncovered during the construction of a road leading to a farm in the northern part of the "Kumushkon" neighborhood in the Parkent district of the Tashkent region. According to the Agency of Cultural Heritage, preliminary research revealed bone fragments and a heavily rusted iron sword in the area.

It was determined that the hole created during the road excavation was an underground burial chamber (catacomb). Specialists discovered burial goods, an iron sword, a bronze ring, a ceramic vessel, and a bulla (seal) at the site.

"Based on the construction style and the number of burials, experts estimate that this tomb dates back to the 1st millennium AD. According to archaeologists, such tombs may have belonged to the nomadic cattle-breeding population of that era. To study these unique finds, the exhibits have been brought to the Samarkand Archaeological Institute, named after Y. Gulomov, for further analysis," the report stated.

Currently, archaeological excavations are ongoing in the area, conducted by the employees of the Samarkand Archaeological Institute with the financial support of the Cultural Heritage Agency.
