Paris 2024: Uzbek referees will officiate semi-final match

On August 5, the semi-final match between Morocco and Spain will be held as part of the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris. This match will be officiated by a team of referees led by FIFA referee Ilgiz Tantashev from Uzbekistan.

The match is scheduled to commence at 21:00 Tashkent time. Tantashev will be supported by his compatriots Andrey Tsapenko and Temur Gaynullin as assistant referees.

For reference, the Uzbek Olympic football team, which represented Uzbekistan in the tournament, faced Spain in the opening round and was defeated 2:1. Under the guidance of coach Temur Kapadze, the team, which aimed to secure points in their second match against Egypt, suffered a 1:0 loss at the "Beaujoirer" stadium in Nantes. They subsequently drew 1:1 with the Dominican Republic, which marked the conclusion of their participation in the Paris Olympics.

It is also noteworthy that FIFA referee Ilgiz Tantashev previously officiated the match between France and Guinea during the group stage of the Olympic Games.
