Lazizbek Mullojonov of Uzbekistan defeated his Italian opponent in the men's boxing competition at the Summer Olympic Games held in Paris, France.
The Uzbekistan men's national boxing team also had a successful start to its campaign. Mullojonov, competing in the 92 kg weight category, faced Aziz Abbos Muhiddin of Italy in the first round and secured a victory with a score of 4:1, advancing to the quarterfinals. Mullojonov is scheduled to compete for a spot in the semifinals on August 1.
On the same day, he will face the winner of the bout between Patrick James Brown of Great Britain and Keno Machado of Brazil. Their match is set to take place after 23:15 today.
Earlier reports indicated that Diyora Keldiyorova of Uzbekistan defeated the reigning Olympic champion from Japan in judo.
