The opera Tamerlano, dedicated to the great commander Amir Temur, was performed at the Royal Opera of the Palace of Versailles in Paris. Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva announced this on her Telegram channel.

“After Dubai, Vienna and St. Petersburg, George Frideric Handel’s Tamerlano has conquered Paris,” the Head of the Presidential Administration said.

According to her, the work was performed by the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan at one of Europe’s most prestigious venues — the Royal Opera of the Palace of Versailles.

“While enjoying the live performance of our talented musicians, I once again became convinced that cultural diplomacy is capable of uniting different peoples,” Saida Mirziyoyeva said.

For reference, on October 2, 2024, the premiere of Tamerlano, interpreted by director Stefano Poda, took place on the stage of the Alisher Navoi State Academic Bolshoi Theatre. At that time, the original music by George Frideric Handel (1685-1759), refined by composer Kirill Richter, was performed by the orchestra accompanied by Uzbek national musical instruments.

The world premiere of the opera took place exactly 300 years ago, in 1724. It is considered a masterpiece of Western European musical art dedicated to Amir Temur, the founder of the Timurid Empire.

Earlier, it was reported that Saida Mirziyoyeva had attended the performance of the play Adolat Fasli, dedicated to Amir Temur, at the Uzbek National Academic Drama Theatre.
