President assigns key task to Saida Mirziyoyeva

Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration, has been instructed to analyze the performance of Uzbekistan's diplomatic missions abroad. The instruction was announced during a videoconference meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on July 21 to review the country's results in the first half of the year and discuss priorities for the remainder of 2026.

According to the meeting, agreements have been reached on 1,617 investment projects worth $213 billion during 52 high-level visits in recent years. However, it was noted that there have been shortcomings in monitoring the implementation of these projects.

It was decided that the implementation of project "roadmaps" will now be overseen by the Accounts Chamber and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Prime Minister was instructed to hold weekly discussions with sector leaders, regional governors, and ambassadors to review the roadmaps on a country-by-country and project-by-project basis.

The President also expressed concerns over the performance of Uzbekistan's diplomatic missions abroad. The ambassador to Belarus was dismissed for insufficient attention to investment and foreign trade issues, while the performance of ambassadors in France, Austria, Spain, Italy, Oman, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore was also described as inadequate.

Saida Mirziyoyeva was instructed to establish a commission to assess the work of diplomatic missions in the areas of economic diplomacy, investment, and exports, and to submit proposals on replacing officials who are failing to fulfill their duties with younger, forward-thinking professionals.
