Students of the Higher Education Institution may be allowed to work from the 2nd year

In Uzbekistan, it is planned to allow students from the 2nd year to work in their spare time based on a certificate issued by the head of a higher educational institution. In this regard, the draft decision of the Cabinet of Ministers "On measures to create opportunities for students of higher education institutions to work in their specialty" was announced.

According to the report, the purpose of this is to ensure the employment of students of higher education institutions by the Labor Code and to create an opportunity for them to work together with education and earn additional income.

According to the decision:

  • students of higher education institutions are allowed to work in their spare time from studying in their specialty, starting from the second year (from the second year courses in some fields of study) based on the certificate issued by the head of the higher education institution;
  • a certificate is not required when hiring students undergoing paid industrial practice and paid internships;
  • students are allowed to work in their specialty based on a certificate only during their studies at a higher education institution.

Within two months, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation develops and approves the procedure for issuing a certificate to students that provides the right to work in their specialty: 

  • the list of educational areas for which a certificate is issued; 
  • from which course the certificate will be issued according to the educational directions; 
  • Circumstances have taken into account when issuing a certificate. 

The Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Employment, taking into account the work of students of higher education institutions during their studies, takes measures to change and add to the classification of the main positions and professions of employees and the scheme for achieving qualification levels until 2024. comes out.
