An Indonesian man sold his 11-month-old son to finance his gambling addiction, according to a report by the "Daily Mail."

The father reportedly entered into a contract to support his gambling habit and received approximately $800 from the sale of his child. The situation came to light when the boy’s mother noticed her son was missing and contacted the police.

Under the weight of the evidence, the father confessed to the crime and provided a heartfelt confession. The alleged buyers were also arrested on suspicion of human trafficking, a serious offense in Indonesia that carries a penalty of up to 15 years in prison and substantial fines.

In a related incident last month in Samarkand, a woman was apprehended for selling her 13-year-old daughter for $25,000 and reportedly "celebrating" the sale at a restaurant.
