The Ombudsman met with Dauletmurat Tajimuratov, who was imprisoned after the events in Nukus. On January 5 this year, the Oliy Majlis representative on Human Rights, along with public groups for detecting and preventing torture, visited penal colony No. 11 in Navoi. Members of community groups, NGOs, and the "Yuksalish" movement participated, assessing the conditions.

During the inspection, officials, including the "Legal Base" NGO chairmen, met Dauletmurat Tajimuratov, imprisoned for 16 years after the 2020 Karakalpakstan riots. Tajimuratov mentioned improved conditions due to Ombudsman monitoring, good food supply, no torture, and timely medical assistance.

Conversations with the colony's leadership affirmed Tajimuratov's lawful sentence. On May 6, 2023, during a monitoring visit to a Tashkent detention center, Tajimuratov expressed objections. Notably, on January 9, we reported the death of Niyetbay Urazbayev, Karakalpak diaspora leader, arrested in absentia in Uzbekistan for encroachment on the state system.
