Shocking abuse in Tashkent region: Mother punished for torturing son

In Almalik city, Tashkent region, a mother was sentenced to two years in prison for burning the hands and toes of her 8-year-old son as punishment for eating sweets without permission. The incident was reported by Millar.
The Almalik City Criminal Court found the woman guilty under Article 110, Part 2(a) of the Criminal Code (torture of a minor). She was sentenced to two years of imprisonment, to be served in a penal colony.
The incident occurred on October 30, 2024. The woman, identified as Kh.A., born in 1991, punished her son, B.A., by inserting cotton between his fingers and other body parts and setting it on fire. This was allegedly in response to the child eating sweets without permission. The boy sustained first- and second-degree burns, resulting in minor injuries.
The burns were noticed by the boy’s schoolteachers, who reported the matter. The child revealed that his mother was responsible for the injuries. Following an investigation by the Almalik City Police Department, a criminal case was opened against X.A. She went into hiding, prompting authorities to issue a warrant for her arrest. On February 7, 2025, Kh.A. was apprehended and placed in custody under a court order.
Earlier, in Chirchik city, Tashkent region, a 4-year-old girl tragically passed away after being severely beaten by her mother. The mother was subsequently detained and placed under arrest.
