Did a schoolgirl in Almalyk die after a “disciplinary” meeting? (video)

Earlier it was reported that a 17-year-old girl, born in 2009, died after losing consciousness in a school corridor at School No. 5 in the city of Almalyk, Tashkent region. Social media users claimed that the student died from stress after a “disciplinary hour” held at the school. Bobur To‘laganov, spokesperson for the Tashkent Regional Department of Internal Affairs, commented on the reports.

“Posts circulating online claim that a critical meeting was held at the school, where the administration and internal affairs officers conducted a loud ‘disciplinary’ session with female students, and that a 10th-grade student died from stress afterward. We would like to briefly comment on these claims and strongly warn some social media channel administrators.

Since this concerns a human life, some social media users must set aside their desire for attention or sensationalism. We remind you that spreading unofficial, inaccurate or false information entails administrative and criminal liability. According to preliminary information, female students in grades 9–11 at School No. 5 in Almalyk had been unable to get along due to rumors they were spreading about one another,” To‘laganov said.

He added that a “disciplinary hour” meeting had been planned for the students with the participation of the school administration, representatives of the Women’s Committee and inspector-psychologists assigned to the school from the internal affairs bodies. The deceased 10th-grade student felt unwell and collapsed on the first-floor corridor while heading to the meeting, before it had begun.

“Please note that the incident occurred before the student entered the planned meeting. However, social media reports claim the student died after a critical disciplinary session. Investigative actions are currently underway. We ask our colleagues and media representatives not to publish unverified information through mass channels,” To‘laganov said.

Earlier, it was reported that a 17-year-old teenager in Buloqboshi district of Andijan region had fatally stabbed an acquaintance with a household knife following a dispute.
