A proposal is being put forward to hold "Elektroset" accountable for unannounced power outages in non-emergency situations. This was announced by Business Ombudsman Dilmurod Qosimov on June 29 during an open dialogue with entrepreneurs from various sectors, including finance, law, consulting, IT, and communications, as part of preparations for the President's upcoming open dialogue with the business community.

IT entrepreneur Abduqahhor Toshmuhamedov, who participated in the dialogue, reported daily power outages since the start of summer.

"The power has been shutting off for 3-4 hours each day since summer began, despite switching to commercial rates, there's still no accountability. The outages occur at the same time every day, which needs to be organized. We are responsible to our foreign partners, as we operate in more than 10 countries. If the power goes out, so does the internet," explained the businessman.

In response, Business Ombudsman Dilmurod Qosimov acknowledged that this issue affects not just the IT sector but all business sectors.

"In this context, if 'Elektroset' turns off the power without warning, we are drafting a proposal to hold them accountable. Although we face challenges, such as daily deletions and potential errors, there is no guarantee. Nonetheless, unexpected outages should be their responsibility, as it can halt your work. We are committed to developing a responsibility framework," said the business ombudsman.

As a reminder, on June 15, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted Decision No. 337, "On additional measures to further improve the tariff policy in the fuel and energy sector." This decision outlines the main directions of Uzbekistan's tariff policy for the fuel and energy sector until 2035. The document will take effect on April 1, 2025, with electricity and natural gas prices set to remain stable for at least three years starting in 2026.

State support for low-income and vulnerable populations will be ensured through the application of basic rates for electricity and natural gas, along with compensations when tariffs increase.
