Entrepreneur steals electricity worth 4.7 billion soums in Urgut

An entrepreneur in Urgut district of Samarkand region was found to have stolen electricity worth 4.7 billion soums, the Ministry of Energy reported.

A major violation was uncovered during an inspection conducted by the Prosecutor General’s Office headquarters in Samarkand region. According to the ministry, an external influence was deliberately applied to the electricity meter at a shopping complex belonging to U.S.K. LLC in Urgut district in order to reduce its readings. The facility had been illegally using electricity for a long period.

According to preliminary calculations by the electricity supply company, the damage caused by the violation amounted to 4.7 billion soums.

Officials noted that no additional information has yet been officially released regarding those responsible or the results of the investigation.

Earlier, illegal use of natural gas worth 2.4 billion soums was detected at a public catering facility and a bakery in Tashkent.
