Uzbekistan’s triumph at U-17 Asian Cup earns AFC president’s praise

The President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, extended heartfelt congratulations to Uzbekistan’s U-17 national team on their championship win at the Asian Cup, held on April 20, 2025, in Saudi Arabia. The AFC President’s message was shared by the Uzbekistan Football Association press service.

“I am delighted to extend my warmest congratulations to you and the Uzbek football family on winning the Asian Cup for players under 17, held in Saudi Arabia. Uzbekistan’s outstanding performances throughout the tournament reflect the dedicated efforts and progress made to develop and popularize football in your country. I am grateful to Islam Ismoilov and the entire team for showcasing brilliant play during the competition, and I wish you success at the FIFA U-17 World Cup! I also wish the Uzbek football community continued success in its future endeavors,” stated Sheikh Salman in his congratulatory message.

Earlier, Uzbekistan’s U-17 team triumphed in the final of the Asian Cup, defeating Saudi Arabia 2-0 to claim the championship title.
