Commission reports on Nukus events to Oliy Majlis

The commission investigating the Nukus events has submitted its report to the Oliy Majlis, according to UzA.

The report reveals that of the 168 individuals held in pre-trial detention, 107 – including two women – were released and reunited with their families at the request of the commission.

Additionally, 943 participants in the Karakalpakstan events received warnings for offenses, while 6,135 were fined administratively, 2,639 were sentenced to administrative detention, and 61 were found guilty of committing crimes.

The unrest resulted in serious injuries and fatalities among civilians and law enforcement personnel, alongside material damage to state and private property amounting to 6.8 billion sums.

During the riots, 21 individuals, including two law enforcement officers, lost their lives, and 413 were injured – 183 of whom were members of law enforcement.

The commission's report also noted that three law enforcement officers who violated human rights during the suppression of the riots have been held criminally responsible.
