Nestlé Food has announced a voluntary recall of a limited number of baby food products in Uzbekistan.
According to the company, the recall concerns instant powdered milk and fermented milk formulas, as well as powdered mixtures based on amino acids used for therapeutic dietary nutrition.
“The recall is being carried out as a precautionary measure and is part of Nestlé’s global voluntary recall of specific baby food product batches due to a potential risk of cereulide toxin being present in a raw material (arachidonic acid) supplied by an external supplier,” the statement said.
It was noted that the recall is linked to a possible presence of cereulide toxin in arachidonic acid supplied by a third-party vendor. If ingested, this toxin can cause acute poisoning, with primary symptoms including nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
The decision to recall the products was made as a precaution and in accordance with the company’s strict quality and safety protocols.
Consumers who purchased products from the affected batches may return them in accordance with procedures that will be announced on the company’s official social media pages, including Facebook, Instagram, and Telegram.
The recall does not affect other batches of Nestlé products supplied in Uzbekistan or other baby food products.
