Illegal land sale: Bank employee caught in Navoi

Authorities in Khatirchi District, Navoi Region, have detained a commercial bank specialist for attempting to sell 18.7 hectares of land for 200 million UZS, according to the State Security Service.

The suspect allegedly offered to register the plot, which had been leased in 2021 to a horticulture and viticulture farm managed by his father, in the buyer’s name in exchange for the payment.

During an operation conducted jointly with the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, law enforcement officers apprehended the bank employee while receiving 190 million UZS, securing physical evidence of the transaction.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 25,168 (Fraud), Section 4(a) of the Criminal Code, and investigations are ongoing.

Previously, in Jizzakh, an employee of the Territorial Electric Networks was caught taking a $1,000 bribe in exchange for securing a job placement for a citizen.
