Following a heavy defeat against Bukhara FC in the 22nd round of the Uzbekistan Super League, Navbahor management dismissed head coach Sergey Lushan. The club’s press service reported the decision.
The 52-year-old specialist had been appointed as Navbahor head coach in the summer of 2024, after the resignation of Samvel Babayan. Under his leadership, the Namangan club reached the final stage of the Uzbekistan Cup but fell short in the final against Andijon FC.
’’We express our gratitude to Sergey Ivanovich for his work at Navbahor and wish him success in his future career,’’ the club’s statement read.
It is worth noting that following the heavy defeat in Bukhara, Sergey Lushan expressed dissatisfaction with his players, even stating that some of their actions appeared suspicious.
Under his management, the ’’Falcons’’ played 35 matches in the Super League, recording 16 wins, 9 draws, and 10 losses. In the Uzbekistan Cup, the team played 8 matches, securing 5 victories (two of them in penalty shootouts), 1 draw, and 2 defeats.
Currently, Navbahor sits in 7th place in the Uzbekistan Super League table with 33 points after 22 matches.
Sergey Lushan began his coaching career in 2011 with Bunyodkor’s reserve team. He later went on to manage Uzbekistan’s U-19 national team, as well as Bunyodkor, Sagdiana, Dinamo, and Samarkand. Outside Uzbekistan, he also coached Belarusian clubs Shakhtar and Shakhtar-2.
