Prisoner commits suicide in Namangan prison

A prisoner serving his sentence in Namangan has committed suicide, according to Abdurahmon Tashanov, Chairman of the "Ezgulik" society.
On May 23, a 24-year-old inmate took his own life in Prison No. 6, located in the Pop district of the Namangan region, under the jurisdiction of the Penitentiary Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The deceased's mother reported that her son had marks of torture on his body and that he had called home on May 11, alleging he was being tortured in prison. Other family members doubt that the prisoner committed suicide.
It is worth noting that in March of this year, the former mayor of Andijan, Bahrom Haydarov, died of illness in prison. Late last year, another inmate serving a sentence in Navoi also committed suicide in a detention cell.
