A 22-year-old man who murdered his uncle’s wife and her two children in the Pop district of Namangan region has been sentenced to life imprisonment. QALAMPIR.UZ has reviewed the court ruling.

According to court documents, the horrific crime took place on August 9, 2024, in the village of Chodak, Pop district. The defendant, identified as A.M., committed the murders under aggravating circumstances—targeting victims in a helpless state and with extreme cruelty.

The conflict stemmed from a long-standing family dispute. The defendant’s father, I.A., had ongoing quarrels with his brother, I.M., over housing and domestic issues, which led to deepening animosity between the two families. While the victim’s husband, I.M., was working in Russia, his family faced repeated disconnections of gas and electricity by A.M.’s family without prior notice, as the two households shared utility lines.

On the evening of the crime, A.M. returned home around 8:00 p.m. and learned that his uncle’s wife, M.R., had once again disconnected the electricity. Seeking revenge, he devised a plan to kill her and her children.

That same evening, A.M. armed himself with a household knife and entered his uncle’s home around 8:30 p.m. His first target was M.M., born in 2011 and not yet 14 years old, who was walking toward the garden. Taking advantage of the child’s helplessness, A.M. stabbed him repeatedly—29 times in the neck, abdomen, and chest—deliberately killing him.

He then attacked M.R., who was watching from the doorway, chasing her into the bedroom where he stabbed her 42 times in the neck and chest, killing her as well.

Not stopping there, A.M. went after the second child, M.M., who had locked herself in the kitchen out of fear. After breaking down the door when his knife snapped, he retrieved another kitchen knife and stabbed her 39 times in the abdomen and chest, killing her too.

After committing the murders, A.M. attempted to destroy evidence by discarding M.R.'s phone and the kitchen knife in the yard, pocketing the broken knife, and fleeing the scene to hide.

On April 7, the Pap District Criminal Court found A.M. guilty under Article 97, Part 2, Clauses “a”, “c”, and “j” of the Criminal Code (intentional murder of two or more persons, with extreme cruelty, and against individuals in a helpless state). He was sentenced to life imprisonment in a special regime correctional facility.

It is worth recalling that a similar incident occurred earlier in Fergana, where a 25-year-old man, reportedly burdened by debts from online gambling, killed a woman and attacked her three minor children while they were sleeping. He was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
