Reprimand issued to Muzrabot mayor over insulting remarks

An audio recording circulated on social media in which Muzrabot district mayor Abdulla Mamatkulov allegedly insulted and humiliated farmers during a meeting with those who were not fulfilling the grain delivery plan. The Anti-Corruption Agency commented on the case.

It was noted that during the review, it was established that the actions in this case violated the rules of conduct for civil servants.

“According to the law, civil servants are required to perform their duties conscientiously, refrain from actions that may damage the reputation of state bodies and organizations, and strictly observe the principles of courtesy, respect and professionalism in relations with citizens,” the report said.

The Anti-Corruption Agency said that, within its authority to coordinate efforts aimed at preventing violations of ethics rules by civil servants, it submitted a request to the Surkhandarya regional administration to conduct an internal investigation and give a legal assessment of the case in accordance with the established procedure.

Following the review of the submission, a disciplinary reprimand was issued to Muzrabot district mayor Abdulla Mamatkulov.

“The Agency will consistently continue efforts to ensure strict compliance with ethics rules by civil servants, establish high professional and moral standards in the civil service, and ensure the inevitability of responsibility for violations of the law,” the report said.

Earlier, it was reported that Nurbek Turdiyev, First Deputy Mayor of Karshi city in Kashkadarya region, had verbally insulted employees during a meeting. Later, the deputy mayor was fined 41.2 million soums for involving employees in work on weekends. A submission was also sent to the Kashkadarya regional administration to have his actions reviewed by the Ethics Commission over his insulting treatment of employees.
