Muzaffar Komilov becomes Presidential Adviser on religious and educational affairs

On July 10, Muzaffar Komilov was appointed Adviser to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on religious and educational affairs. The relevant decree was signed by the President of Uzbekistan.

According to the decree, Muzaffar Murodovich Komilov was appointed Adviser to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on religious and educational affairs. In connection with this appointment, he was relieved of his position as Head of the Department for Religious and Educational Affairs of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan.

For reference, until 2018, Muzaffar Komilov worked as a department head at the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education and as vice rector at Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies and Tashkent State University of Economics.

From April 18, 2018, he served as First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs. He was relieved of this position on February 2, 2022, and appointed Presidential Adviser on cooperation with public and religious organizations.

Alongside this position, Muzaffar Komilov served as Rector of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan from May 25, 2021, to September 30, 2023.

In December 2024, he was relieved of his position as Presidential Adviser on religious and interethnic relations and was again appointed Rector of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan. In April 2025, the university was renamed the International Academy of Islamic Studies.
