Muzaffar Kamilov has been appointed as the new rector of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan. The Committee on Religious Affairs reported this update following a resolution by the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan.

Previously, Kamilov served as an advisor to the President of Uzbekistan on matters of religion and interethnic relations. Notably, this is not his first tenure as rector—he held the same position from 2021 to 2023.

Kamilov’s career has also included roles such as First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs (2018-2022) and Presidential Advisor on religious and interethnic relations (February 2022–December 2024). His recent appointment follows his transfer from his previous role as Presidential Advisor.

This decision underscores Kamilov’s extensive experience and leadership in religious and academic administration.
