The Muslim Board issues a statement on Ramadan Khayit (Eid al-Fitr)

52689The Muslim Administration of Uzbekistan issued a notice on observance of the Shavval Moon -the first day of Ramadan Khayit (Eid al-Fitr).
According to this, in the religious administration, a working group consisting of outstanding religious scholars and qualified experts has been formed on the proper celebration of Ramadan Khayit and observing the new moon in accordance with Islamic rules.
The working group is observing the first day of Ramadan Khayit- the Shavwal moon, through astronomical analysis and cooperation with foreign experts.
The working group will present the results of the observation to the Council of Ulema (ulema-“a wise scholar) of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan.
The information on the first day of the Ramadan Khayit will be considered by the Council of Ulema and relevant conclusions will be drawn.
For reference, the month of Ramadan in Uzbekistan began on 2 April and will last until 1 May. If the appearance of the moon does not change, the first day of Ramadan Khayit (Eid al-Fitr) will occur on 2 May.
