The Moldovan government plans to cancel the visa-free entry agreement for citizens of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, signed on October 9, 1992, in Bishkek, “NewsMaker” reported.
According to the report, a draft decision prepared by the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be reviewed at a government meeting on November 12. If approved, it will be submitted to parliament.
The Ministry stated that the visa requirement will apply only to citizens of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, as Moldova does not have separate bilateral agreements regulating movement with these countries.
QALAMPIR.UZ contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to clarify the situation regarding Uzbekistan. Press Secretary Ahror Burkhanov confirmed that Moldova does not plan to introduce a visa requirement for Uzbek citizens.
This move is seen as part of Moldova’s effort to align its migration and visa policies with European Union standards as the country seeks closer ties with the EU.
It is worth noting that Montenegro previously canceled the visa-free regime for Uzbek citizens.
