The UN General Assembly supported President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s initiative to connect Central and South Asia.

The president’s spokesman Sherzod Asadov noted that all member states of the organization unanimously approved a special resolution on strengthening cooperation between Central and South Asia, developed by Uzbekistan with the co-sponsorship of 40 countries.

“The initiative to develop this resolution and to consolidate in it the common approaches, basic principles, and directions of the dialogue between the two regions was made by the head of our state at the Tashkent conference on "Central and South Asia: Regional Interdependence.  Threats and opportunities" held in July 2021”, - Asadov said.

The document also greatly appreciates Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s proposal to declare 2022 the “Year of strengthening interdependence” within the framework of the Economic Cooperation Organization.
