The ongoing Paris Summer Paralympics in France have come to an end. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev personally congratulated Nurkhon Gurbanova and Tolibboy Yoldoshev on their victories at the 2024 Paralympic Games. The President's press service reported this.

"I will always follow your progress. I remember your kind words when we started construction in our Olympic town: 'I will come back with gold from the Paralympics.' What does this mean? It shows that you are growing stronger with your relentless efforts and determined aspirations. You have more than fulfilled your promise," the Head of State congratulated Nurkhon Gurbanova, who not only set a world record but also broke it.

The President also congratulated para-athlete Tolibboy Yoldoshev.

"A few days ago, you won a bronze medal in shot put. Achieving two top results in two sports is a remarkable feat. These achievements are the fruit of your hard work, tireless training, and the rich skills you have accumulated," said Mirziyoyev.

For context, on September 2, Nurkhon Gurbanova won a bronze medal in the F54 class shot put with a result of 7.75 meters. Today, she broke the world record in javelin throwing in this class with a throw of 21.12 meters, becoming the Paralympic champion. Yesterday, on September 6, Tolibboy Yoldoshev became the Paralympic champion in men’s para-athletics in the discus throw program in the F37 class. Earlier, on August 31, Yoldoshev secured a bronze medal with a throw of 15.24 meters.

Uzbekistan's total medal count now stands at 26—comprising 10 gold, 9 silver, and 7 bronze medals. The team currently ranks 11th overall.

It’s worth noting that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also had a telephone conversation with Bobur Omonov, who won the gold medal in the shot put at the Paralympic Games in Paris.
