Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the candidate for the presidency of the Republic of Uzbekistan from the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, has outlined his plans in his pre-election program to increase the gross domestic product (GDP) per capita from the current $2,200 to $4,000.

Mirziyoyev's program sets a target for the economy to double to $160 billion by 2030, along with an increase in GDP per capita from $2,200 to $4,000.  This would position Uzbekistan among the countries with above-average incomes.

Furthermore, it has been highlighted that significant projects, worth a total of $115 billion, have already been launched in collaboration with foreign partners, and strategic mega-projects are planned for the coming years. These include:

•    The establishment of three copper beneficiation plants and a new copper smelter in Almalik.
•    The creation of a tinned copper processing cluster.
•    The development of large chemical-polymer clusters in Navoi, Kungirot, and Karakol.
•    The establishment of a facility for the production of finished products with high added value from phosphorite raw materials in the Tashkent and Navoi regions.
•    The launch of the Tebinbulok and Gallaorol steel production complexes.

These initiatives are expected to result in a 3.5-fold increase in copper production required for high-income products (500,000 tons), a 1.5-fold increase in gold production (155 tons), a threefold increase in silver production (500 tons), and a threefold increase in uranium production (10,000 tons) by 2030.  Additionally, the country will witness the commencement of aluminium, lithium, steel, and graphite production for the first time in its history.
