Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with Erdogan

Today, on 6 February, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This was reported by the Presidential Press Service.

It is noted that Mirziyoyev expressed his deep sympathy in connection with the large number of people killed and the huge losses caused by the strong earthquake that occurred in the southeastern regions of Turkey today.

"Words of encouragement were expressed to the brotherly people of Turkey, to the families and relatives of the deceased and injured," the report said.

It was noted that practical cooperation issues were discussed to eliminate the consequences of natural disasters.  It is planned to send a group of humanitarian aid and rescuers from Uzbekistan to Turkey on 7 February.

They also exchanged views on the bilateral agenda and current aspects of regional cooperation.

We remind you that today, on 6 February, a strong earthquake of magnitude 7.9 (7.4 according to preliminary data) occurred in the central part of Turkey and northwestern Syria.  As a result of the earthquake, 912 people died and 5,385 were injured in Turkey. 2,818 buildings were destroyed, and 2,470 people were rescued from the rubble.
