It is well known that the authoritarian regime did not limit itself to the extermination of the Jadids.  As early as the 1980s, thousands of compatriots had been imprisoned and humiliated by various forms of detention.  President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev today, 31August, during a visit to the museum “Memorial of victims of repression” on the Alley of the Memory of Martyrs remembered the events that took place at the end of the last century,- fight for independence and injustice against the Uzbek people.

“Even today I am still thinking about it.  If the events of the 1930s are an old story, what about the "cotton affair"?!  They fabricated false accusations to suppress our leaders.  Were there not shortages in other republics?  Such painful events can never be forgotten.  On holidays and peaceful days, as today, we must take these things from the heart and bring them to our youth”, - Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

It was noted that the world is becoming turbulent, and in such a situation it is necessary to be vigilant and restrained.

“You see, the competition and threats in the world are increasing.  The danger stands next to us. To be ready for this, you must always be on guard.  While saying thanks for our safe lives today, we must make our tomorrow strong.  When will we be strong?  When we have knowledge.  If we are inspired by the greatness of our ancestors and by perfect education in all fields, we will be no less than any great country.  If we teach our children well, the result will be better than we expected.  Our independence will be lasting and eternal," - the head of state said.

The Koran was also recited near a symbolic grave in an alley.  Prayers asked for mercy for the deceased from Allah peace and prosperity for the country.
