On May 15, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation led by Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz, according to the Presidential Press Service.

At the outset of the meeting, Yilmaz conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the leader of Uzbekistan.

The two sides discussed ways to further expand and deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkey, with a focus on trade, economic cooperation, and investment. It was noted with satisfaction that active dialogue and exchanges are continuing at various levels.

The successful outcomes of the latest meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, as well as the business forum and exhibition held earlier in the day in Tashkent, were highly praised.

Both parties stressed the importance of taking mutually agreed measures to increase bilateral trade turnover, including through the expansion of the range of goods traded under the Preferential Trade Agreement.

The need to advance joint projects in innovation, energy, industry, pharmaceuticals, textiles, tourism, education, and other sectors was underscored. The leaders also emphasized forming a new portfolio of cooperative initiatives and launching a program of cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

Special attention was devoted to preparing the agenda for the next session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.

It is also worth noting that earlier today, President Mirziyoyev chaired a videoconference meeting focused on enhancing the effectiveness of reforms in the school education system and outlining future priorities. During the session, it was highlighted that 60,000 schoolteachers in Uzbekistan currently earn salaries ranging from 8 to 12 million sums.
