Mirziyoyev invites Tokaev to Uzbekistan

Today, on August 8, the first meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council was held at the Akhor residence under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President Kassym-Jomart Tokaev of Kazakhstan, as reported by the President's press service.

During the meeting, President Mirziyoyev outlined several priority tasks. He emphasized the importance of creating positions within international structures to more effectively promote common interests. The effectiveness of dialogues, the establishment of an inter-parliamentary forum, and the continuation of the Council of Experts' work were also discussed.

The goal of increasing bilateral trade to nearly $10 billion was highlighted. To achieve this, a program will be developed by the end of the month, focusing on mutual market access and exploring new opportunities. The leaders also agreed to study the possibility of establishing a joint fund to accelerate the launch of the International Industrial Cooperation Center and support promising production initiatives.

The two countries expressed readiness to enhance their energy cooperation by expanding energy facilities and infrastructure. Preparations for the construction of the Qambarota Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) will be accelerated. Additionally, branches of the Tashkent Institute in Almaty and the South Kazakhstan University named after Mukhtar Auezov in Chirchik will be launched.

After the negotiations, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited President Kassym-Jomart Tokaev to visit Uzbekistan for the next meeting of the High Interstate Council.

Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have also agreed to implement a trade agreement worth $7 billion.
