Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Uzbekistan, visited the Andijan region today, February 15, as announced by the President's press service.

The visit included various planned destinations and initiatives in the region, with the first stop being the textile facility within the "Asaka Textile" cluster.

Established in August 2022, the complex now boasts a complete production cycle, from raw materials to finished products, thanks to an $83 million investment.

The facility in Asaka is equipped with machinery from Switzerland, Italy, Turkey, Germany, and Japan, capable of producing significant quantities: 11,000 tons of yarn, 8,000 tons of wool and knitted fabric, 12,000 tons of yarn and fabric dyeing, and 6,000 tons of ready-made knitwear and towels. The workforce comprises 3,200 employees.

In response to foreign demand, the enterprise has set up a quality control and vocational training center and commissioned a water treatment plant for the paint shop.

The cluster's projects amount to $102 million, creating an annual export capacity of $50 million, a substantial increase from seven years ago. Future plans include establishing a 70,000-ton cotton fiber processing plant and a sewing-knitting and hosiery production enterprise in the Ulugnor district, generating over 1,600 additional jobs.

During the visit, Mirziyoyev received a presentation on the development concept for the cotton-textile industry, highlighting a projected 15% reduction in production costs and a 65% increase in added value. Plans also include establishing a school for designers and technologists, attracting reputable brands and retailers, and aiming for $800 million in network enterprise exports.

The President emphasized the importance of enhancing relations between the cluster and farmers, stressing the need to empower those involved in agriculture, ensuring their competitiveness in the market.

Mirziyoyev engaged in discussions with the seamstresses at the facility, some of whom had returned from working abroad due to the availability of well-paying jobs locally.
