Mirziyoyev holds talks with Speaker of Slovenian Parliament

Mirziyoyev and Golob sign joint statement, ink multiple cooperation deals

On May 22, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Slovenia, Urška Klakočar-Župančič, as part of his official visit to the country. The meeting was reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.

During the talks, the sides discussed the further development of comprehensive relations between Uzbekistan and Slovenia, including cooperation at the parliamentary level.

It was noted with satisfaction that inter-parliamentary exchanges have intensified in recent years. The importance of cooperation between sectoral committees was emphasized as a means to support and accelerate joint projects between the two legislative bodies.

The meeting also highlighted the role of parliaments in promoting humanitarian ties, including the organization of cultural events, film days, exhibitions, and academic exchanges between higher education institutions.

Additionally, the officials proposed holding the first Uzbek-Slovenian Inter-Parliamentary Forum in the city of Samarkand with the participation of deputies and experts. The two sides agreed to adopt a joint “road map” for the continued development of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

As a reminder, on May 21, President Mirziyoyev arrived in Ljubljana on an official visit at the invitation of Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar. On May 22, an official welcoming ceremony for the President of Uzbekistan was held at Congress Square in Ljubljana. The same day, President Mirziyoyev held talks with President Pirc Musar both in a narrow format and in an extended meeting with the participation of official delegations at the Presidential Palace. He also met with Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob.
