President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his condolences today, June 7, on the passing of a well-known farmer, chairman of the "Azim Shafirkon Yulduzi" farm, public figure, and Hero of Uzbekistan, Azim Latipov, who died at the age of 74. This was reported by the presidential press service.
In his condolence letter, the President highlighted Latipov’s immense contribution to the country’s agricultural sector.
"Azim Latipov, as a true people's elder, always lived with the sorrows and concerns of the people. For many years, as a member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and a deputy of the Bukhara Regional Council of People's Deputies, he made a significant contribution to strengthening our national independence, developing and implementing important legislation necessary for our socio-economic development, carrying out large-scale reforms in the region, and improving the population’s living standards," the letter reads.
The President further emphasized that Latipov’s dedication to the people had been rightfully recognized.
"Azim Latipov’s great services to our state and people were justly honored. He was awarded the "Shuhrat" medal and the highest title of our homeland – "Hero of Uzbekistan".
The bright memory of Azim Latipov, an outstanding farmer, respected public figure, and a modest, noble individual, will forever remain in our hearts," the message concludes.
For reference, Azim Latipov was born on June 6, 1951, in the Shafirkan district of the Bukhara region. He began his career in 1971 as a livestock mechanic on a collective farm. Throughout his life, he worked in cotton growing, grain cultivation, and livestock breeding in the Bukhara region. He also contributed to agriculture through efforts such as reviving old melon varieties and increasing productivity. From 1996 to 2007, he served as a collective farm manager.
In 1996, Latipov was awarded the "Medal of Glory", and in 2002, he was named a "Hero of Uzbekistan". He was elected to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis three times and, from 2004 to 2019, served on the Senate Committee on Agrarian, Water Issues, and Ecology. Since 2004, he had also served as a deputy of the Bukhara Regional Council of People's Deputies.
It should be recalled that on May 28 of this year, President Mirziyoyev also expressed condolences over the death of Azimboy Sadullayev, an academician of the Academy of Sciences, professor of the Department of Mathematical Analysis at the National University of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, and a renowned mathematician, who passed away at the age of 78.
