President expresses condolences on the passing of academician Azimboy Sadullayev

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has expressed his condolences over the passing of Azimboy Sadullayev, academician of the Academy of Sciences, professor at the Department of Mathematical Analysis of the National University of Uzbekistan, and Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. The esteemed mathematician passed away at the age of 78 on May 28, as reported by the President’s press service.

The official condolence letter was sent on behalf of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Norboyeva, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber Nuriddin Ismoilov, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, and President of the Academy of Sciences Shavkat Ayupov.

“Our country’s science has suffered a great loss. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Azimboy Sadullayev passed away on May 28, 2025, at the age of 78,” the letter states.

The message highlights that his legacy will remain in the hearts of the Uzbek people:

 “Academician Azimboy Sadullayev’s contributions to the development of science and education in our country were highly valued by the state. He was awarded the Order of Labor Glory in 2020. The memory of Azimboy Sadullayev — a distinguished scholar, dedicated teacher, and humble individual — will always remain in our hearts.”

Azimboy Sadullayev was born on January 9, 1947, in Shovot district, Khorezm region. He graduated from Moscow State University in 1969 with a degree in mathematics. After completing postgraduate studies at the same university, he successfully defended both his candidate and doctoral dissertations.

In 1989, he was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, and in 1995, a full member.

Over the course of his 55-year career, Sadullayev held numerous responsible positions, including:

-  Teacher, associate professor, department head, and dean at Tashkent State University (now the National University of Uzbekistan),
- Senior researcher at the Institute of Mathematics under the Academy of Sciences,
- Rector of Urgench State University,
- Chairman of the Khorezm Mamun Academy.

He authored over 200 scientific articles and 15 monographs that tackled pressing issues in mathematics.

From 1995 to 2004, Sadullayev also served as a deputy of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, contributing actively to the development of national legislation and enhancing parliamentary oversight.
