Mirziyoyev receives credentials from foreign ambassadors

On May 7, a formal ceremony took place where newly appointed foreign ambassadors presented their credentials to Uzbekistan. This announcement came from the President's press office.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev personally accepted credentials from several ambassadors, including those from Hungary, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Czech Republic, the Sultanate of Oman, and the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.

The President warmly congratulated the newly appointed heads of foreign diplomatic missions, emphasizing their crucial role in strengthening ties between Uzbekistan and their respective countries and fostering diverse cooperation.

President Mirziyoyev highlighted the increasing significance of diplomats in facilitating constructive dialogues, and fostering friendly and mutually beneficial relationships, especially amidst rising global geopolitical and economic challenges threatening sustainable development.

"Today's Uzbekistan is a peace-loving and just social state that is opening up to the world and consistently developing long-term and comprehensive relations with its foreign partners," said the President.

The head of state drew attention to the fact that the economy of Uzbekistan has doubled in the last seven years, the volume of investments, and trade turnover is constantly increasing, and the export geography is expanding. The world's leading companies and famous brands are actively entering the market of Uzbekistan.

"The successful holding of the third Tashkent Investment Forum and the meeting of the Council of Foreign Investors, which took place yesterday with the participation of representatives of 93 countries, is a clear confirmation of this. Emphasizing that Uzbekistan will continue to consistently pursue an open, pragmatic, and proactive foreign policy in the international arena, the head of our country drew the attention of the ambassadors to what they represent and focused on the importance of raising the relations with the countries to a new level in terms of quality and content," the report said.

Addressing the Hungarian ambassador, the President noted that Budapest is an important and time-tested reliable partner of Uzbekistan in Europe.

The President emphasized: “Our collaborative efforts with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán have elevated our relations to a strategic partnership level in recent years.”

Furthermore, bilateral trade has doubled, the number of joint ventures is on the rise, the Uzbekistan embassy in Budapest was inaugurated last year, and over a hundred Uzbek students are enrolled in Hungarian higher education institutions through the "Stipendium Hungaricum" program. Several prominent Hungarian companies and banks, including "OTP Bank," "Bonapharm," "Gedeon Richter," and "Meditop," are thriving in the Uzbekistan market.

It was expressed with confidence that the commencement of flights between Tashkent and Budapest will stimulate business ties and tourism exchanges.

Additionally, Mirziyoyev highlighted the deep historical roots underpinning the relations between Iran and Uzbekistan. Present-day Iran boasts significant economic, cultural, and intellectual potential. Substantial high-level visits and pivotal agreements in recent years have heralded a new era of enhanced relations.

Interactions at all levels have become more dynamic. Bilateral trade is on the rise, with the number of joint ventures reaching 300. The parties have outlined specific plans to boost turnover to $1 billion.

Uzbekistan aims to broaden collaboration with Iran across mining, energy, chemical industry, agriculture, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals.

Emphasis was placed on fully tapping into the potential of cooperation in transport corridors and transit.

The President highlighted that the Czech Republic remains a longstanding and significant partner of Uzbekistan within the European Union. Last year's reciprocal visits of government delegations elevated bilateral relations to a new standard.

The doubling of mutual trade within just a year underscores significant cooperation opportunities. Prominent Czech firms are thriving in Uzbekistan across various sectors like industry, infrastructure, healthcare, and construction materials. Additionally, there are new "Tashkent-Prague" flights commencing.

Highlighting the critical importance of executing agreed investment projects fully and adopting the industrial cooperation program, it was stressed. The intentions of the Czech Export Bank and the Export Guarantee and Insurance Corporation to venture into our nation's banking and financial market were warmly welcomed.

President Mirziyoyev pointed out that the Sultanate of Oman stands as a crucial partner for Uzbekistan in the Middle East. Our collaboration is deeply rooted in shared Islamic faith, traditions, and values, serving as a robust basis for our partnership.

"The Institute of Oriental Studies' impressive library, inaugurated in Tashkent with Sultan Haysam Al Said's involvement, stands as a distinctive emblem of our countries' friendship," remarked the head of state.

Both nations possess considerable yet untapped potential for cooperation. Emphasis was placed on the urgency of convening an Inter-Governmental Commission meeting to institute a Business Council.

Promising sectors for collaboration include agriculture, transportation, logistics, telecommunications, textiles, and tourism. The significance of maximizing the Uzbekistan-Oman investment company's potential was underscored.

The President of Uzbekistan highlighted Algeria's rapid development within the Arab-Muslim world, underscoring its significant economic potential and its promise as a partner on the African continent. Additionally, it was mentioned that Algeria holds the distinction of being the first Arab country to establish an embassy in Tashkent.

Emphasis was placed on the importance of arranging high-level meetings, implementing political consultation mechanisms, and convening the inaugural session of the Intergovernmental Commission. These steps are expected to inject fresh momentum into bilateral relations.

Furthermore, it was acknowledged that facilitating reciprocal delegation visits is essential for advancing and executing tangible investment projects across sectors such as oil and gas, energy, agriculture, and tourism.

After the ceremony concluded, the President extended his best wishes to the ambassadors for success in their esteemed endeavors and urged them to explore the various creative initiatives across Uzbekistan. He emphasized that this endeavor would unquestionably bolster collaboration.

In response, the diplomats conveyed their appreciation for the gracious reception and the conducive environment provided for their productive endeavors. They underscored their commitment to enhancing the diverse cooperation with Uzbekistan.
