The Contents of the Discussion Between Mirziyoyev and the Chinese Leader were Revealed

15538The 18th of May marked the start of a state visit with bilateral talks between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirzyoyev, and the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping. The meeting took place at the "Shensi" headquarters in Xi'an with the participation of the delegations of the two countries.
To begin, the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, warmly welcomed the leader of Uzbekistan, and congratulated him on the success of the national referendum on the renewal of the Constitution, and wished him further success in the upcoming presidential election in Uzbekistan.
In turn, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, expressed gratitude for the invitation to visit China and for the warm hospitality he had received thus far. He sincerely congratulated the Chinese leader on the successful completion of important political events and his re-election to high state positions.
Relevant issues in relation to the new era of comprehensive strategic partnership relations between Uzbekistan and China, were discussed in detail.
It was noted with great satisfaction that the agreements which have been reached are being consistently implemented, mutual relations at all levels have intensified, political dialogue is strengthening, and the parties are supporting each other on important issues.
During the business forum, there was a strong emphasis on sharing experiences and practical measures for implementing socially impactful projects. The focus areas included poverty reduction, agriculture, land use, small and medium-sized businesses, infrastructure modernization, healthcare quality improvement, and professional education.
Detailed discussions were held on prospects for expanding mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation. Joint projects aimed at establishing modern industrial facilities, investing in high-tech enterprises, and promoting technological advancements were given priority.
At the conclusion of the forum, agreements worth a total of $25 billion were signed for the implementation of promising projects. The participants also reached agreements on various initiatives.
A key topic of discussion was the investment-technological cooperation program for alternative energy development. This program encompasses the construction of solar, wind, and water power plants, as well as the production of solar panels, electrical equipment, transformers, batteries, digitalization of management processes, and specialized workforce training.
The potential for cooperation in the production of new-generation cars, particularly the establishment of modern factories for assembling electric and hybrid vehicles, was also highlighted. Importance was placed on developing projects in related sectors, such as creating a high-tech cluster for manufacturing electrical engineering products through advanced processing of copper, lithium, and rare materials.
Furthermore, there was an acknowledgement of mutual interest in expanding cooperation in the production of plastics, chemical products, metal products, food construction materials, ready-made textile products, and the establishment of a biotechnology cluster.
The effective financial and technical coopertion with leading Chinese banks, as well as the Silk Road Fund and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, was highly praised.
Joint measures were identified to tap into the cooperation potential of both countries' regions, including the transformation of the Syrdarya region into an "advanced technology region."
Given the resumption of air travel and active dialogue, the possibility of organizing the first forum for cities and regions of both countries in Uzbekistan later this year will be explored.
To enhance bilateral trade, specific target indicators and goods composition were determined, resulting in a doubling of trade in subsequent years.
In the humanitarian sphere, emphasis was placed on activating cooperation in education and tourism. The participants agreed on holding cultural, art and film events, promoting traditional medicine, treating eye and other diseases, and fostering the production of vaccines and pharmaceutical products.
Discussions also took place on regional and international political agendas, exchanging opions on current topics.
As always, the meeting fostered an atmosphere of trust, openness, and friendship. The leader of Uzbekistan extended an invitation to the leader of China to visit their country, which was gratefully accepted.
