8399The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, condemned actions aimed at restricting the activities of Israel's special agency for assistance to Palestinian refugees. He spoke on this issue today, November 6, during the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States in Bishkek.
"First and foremost, we are talking about the ongoing unjust war in the Middle East and the observed double standards. Nothing can justify the unprecedented humanitarian tragedy in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, the devastating attacks against civilians, especially innocent children, the elderly, and women. We strongly condemn the actions aimed at restricting the activities of the United Nations Special Agency for Palestine Refugees," Mirziyoyev said.
The leader of Uzbekistan emphasized that the only solution to this long-standing conflict is the creation of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the borders of 1967, in accordance with international normative documents and resolutions. He also expressed hope that a clear political solution to this problem will be found at the Arab-Muslim summit in Riyadh next week.
"When it comes to security, the issue of Afghanistan should always be at the center of our attention within the framework of our Organization. In this regard, it is important to establish a regular communication mechanism at the level of ministers and experts," the President stated.
In his view, it is necessary to consider providing assistance to the current government in solving urgent problems in Afghanistan, engaging this country in regional economic processes, and implementing social and infrastructure projects.
It should be noted that earlier, the controversial draft law, which provides for the termination of cooperation with UNRWA, was approved by the Israeli parliament with 10 votes against and 92 votes in favor. Germany, France, Great Britain, Canada, Australia, Japan, and South Korea have "expressed deep concern" about these bills passed by the Israeli parliament. Additionally, UN Secretary-General António Guterres sent a letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu protesting the new law banning UNRWA.
