Mirziyoyev speaks with the new President of Iran

10126Today, July 17, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, had a telephone conversation with the newly elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mas'ud Pezeshkiyan. This was reported by the President's press service.
At the beginning of the conversation, Shavkat Mirziyoyev sincerely congratulated Mas'ud Pezeshkiyan on his victory in the presidential election and wished him great success in his responsible state position.
"The issues of further development of Uzbek-Iranian relations, and expansion of practical cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, and transport were discussed. It was noted with satisfaction that the volume of goods exchange and cargo transportation, joint projects and enterprises, and the number of air flights have been increasing in recent years," the report stated.
Special attention was also given to the implementation of previously reached high-level agreements. The importance of promoting cooperation projects in energy, the chemical industry, agriculture, food, and other sectors was emphasized.
Additionally, topical issues of the regional agenda were discussed.
It is worth noting that on July 5, the second round of the presidential election was held in Iran, where reformer Mas'ud Pezeshkiyan and conservative Saeed Jalili competed. According to the results announced on July 6, Pezeshkiyan won with 53.6 percent of the votes, while Jalili received 44.3 percent. Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent a letter congratulating Mas'ud Pezeshkiyan and expressed confidence that the multifaceted and long-term partnership between the two countries will rise to a higher level in all priority areas.
