Mirziyoyev meets Speaker of Hungarian Parliament in Budapest

1770President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament László Kövér on May 20 as part of his official visit to Hungary, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
The meeting focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Hungary, with particular attention to expanding interparliamentary cooperation.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the growing frequency of reciprocal visits and exchanges between parliamentary delegations. It was noted that János Latorcai, Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, took part in the 150th anniversary assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Tashkent in April of this year.
According to the presidential press service, the Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament and the Head of the Economic Committee are expected to visit Uzbekistan soon. In return, an Uzbek parliamentary delegation will travel to Budapest before the end of the year.
The discussion also highlighted the importance of implementing existing agreements, enhancing the activities of friendship groups, and promoting dialogue between relevant committees to exchange expertise in areas such as regional development, social protection, taxation, and digitalization.
It should be recalled that President Mirziyoyev arrived in Hungary on May 19 at the invitation of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. His official visit began on May 20 with a meeting with executives of major Hungarian companies and banks, during which plans were announced to establish a special industrial zone for European companies in the Tashkent region. Management of the zone will be entrusted to the Hungarian company Inpark.
