Mirziyoyev gives a speech in Uzbek at the UN

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, delivered a speech at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 19. He emphasized the importance of maintaining solidarity and practical cooperation among nations and putting common interests ahead of existing conflicts. Mirziyoyev highlighted the "Samarkand Solidarity Initiative," which was introduced last year and aims to promote common security and development. He stressed the responsibility of countries and peoples to engage in open and constructive cooperation in global dialogues.

Mirziyoyev expressed confidence that the Future Summit, scheduled for the following year at the initiative of the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, would help address current international and regional development issues and enhance the effectiveness of the United Nations.

The President of Uzbekistan also discussed the reforms implemented in his country over recent years. He described Uzbekistan's commitment to becoming a legal, secular, democratic, and social state and mentioned their dedication to fundamental reforms to strengthen democratic and just principles. He cited the values of "for the value and interests of man" as guiding principles.

Mirziyoyev noted that a national referendum had been held in Uzbekistan to update the Constitution, which determined the country's priority development directions. The updated Constitution reaffirmed principles such as equality of all citizens, human rights, freedom of speech, and freedom of conscience, regardless of nationality, language, or religion. These principles align with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, as stated by the press service of the head of state.
