President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Washington, D.C. on November 4 for a working visit at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump, the presidential press service reported.
At Andrews Air Base, the Uzbek leader was welcomed by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, Chair of the U.S.–Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce Carolyn Lamm, and other officials.
The main events of the visit are scheduled for November 5–6. President Mirziyoyev will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump and take part in the “C5+1” summit involving the leaders of Central Asian countries and the United States.
The program also includes meetings with members of the U.S. Congress and government representatives, separate discussions with executives of leading American companies, and a roundtable with business circles.
For reference, the “C5+1” format was established in 2015. The first summit involving heads of state took place on September 19, 2023. The event was attended by U.S. President Joe Biden, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
It is worth noting that earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump invited the leaders of the Central Asian countries to participate in the C5+1 summit.
