There is no need to introduce quarantine restrictions in the event of a monkeypox spread in Uzbekistan.  This was reported by the deputy chairman of the service of Sanitary-epidemiological surveillance and public health, doctor of medical sciences, Professor Nurmat Otabekov.

“Even if the disease enters our country, there is no need to transform any hospital to accommodate the diseased or create a separate hospital.  Because everyone who was born in Uzbekistan before 1980 is vaccinated against the disease.  In other words, 50% of the population has immunity through vaccination.  We know that in this case, the disease will not spread as a mass epidemic”,-he says.

It should be recalled that there are no cases of monkeypox spreading in Uzbekistan.  However, according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization, necessary precautions are being taken gradually.

According to WHO reports, infection cases of monkeypox have been reported in Europe, North America, and Australia so far.  However, due to limited observations, the disease can be registered in other countries.

As of 21 May, of the current year, there are about 90 confirmed cases of monkeypox worldwide.  Approximately 30 people are suspected to be infected with this disease.  Deaths have not yet been reported.
