From December 15 to 17 this year, Tashkent will host the third meeting of the heads of parliaments of Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea. The Senate of the Oliy Majlis reported this.

According to the statement, the main objective of the event is to support the implementation of high-level agreements reached between Central Asian states and the Republic of Korea, deepen inter-parliamentary dialogue, and elevate mutual cooperation to a new level.

The plenary session of the third meeting, titled “Cooperation for Human Dignity, Social Justice, and Environmental Protection,” will focus on priority areas of regional cooperation between Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea in the near future.

Two thematic sessions are also planned: “Economic Cooperation, Digital Transformation, and Industry: Pathways to Regional Development” and “Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection: The Role of Parliaments in Implementing Environmental Initiatives.”

In addition, meetings involving members of inter-parliamentary commissions and friendship groups will include discussions with representatives of think tanks and academic circles aimed at studying best legislative practices.

A Joint Declaration is expected to be adopted following the meeting.

It is worth noting that the first meeting in this format was held in Seoul on September 19, 2023, while the second took place in Ashgabat on October 14, 2024.
